La amistad entre ambos artistas se inicia en Montparnasse y será Jules quién primero se enamore de ella, para terminar casándose y teniendo juntos una niña. finalizada la guerra, Jim vuelve para saludar a sus amigos y Catherine lo recibe radiante, con su hija de cuatro años.
